John Fraser MacPherson was a Canadian jazz saxophonist born in Manitoba and moved to BC as a child. He led his own groups and eventually took over the leadership of the Vancouver Cave supper club band. He played on the CBC, won a Juno Award for Best Jazz Album in 1983 and awarded the Order of Canada in '87. In '93 PMIA created the Fraser MacPherson Scholarship Fund annually awarding grants
